Guide to the Crowe Family Papers

"Here I raise my Ebenezer" - This is a quote from the hymn "Come Thou, Fount of Every Blessing," which John Finley Crowe would have known.  It refers to the biblical story of Samuel's raising a memorial stone to remind his people of God's help.  A 1843 Presbyterian hymnal includes the hymn as Crowe would have known it.
