Welcome to the Hanover College History Department!

Our students are transcribing Civil War letters from a collection held at the Duggan Library.

You can see their work in progress on letters from Elias Riggs Monfort and Margaret Monfort. Elias was a Hanover student before and after the war, and his sister, Maggie, was a student at Glendale Female College in Ohio.

In 1995, the Hanover History Department began a pioneering project to make primary source documents available to students and faculty around the world.

We are delighted that thousands of people continue to use it every day.
