The New Orleans had passed John Bradbury's flatboat several days before, but the Roosevelts' stop in Natchez had given him time to catch up. He was glad of the chance to tour the steamboat in the morning after his arrival, calling it "a very handsome vessel, of four hundred and ten tons burden" and "impelled by a very powerful steam engine, made at Pittsburg."

Shortly after Bradbury's tour, the Roosevelts set off again for their final destination, New Orleans.

(The New Orleans' departure date and time are extrapolated from her average speed and recorded locations.)
